Notes for SAMUAL ROGERS
Samuel Rogers died on his plantation on the waters of Deer Creek, north
of Bel Air, the county seat of Harford Cty., Md. in 1815. His will
received and recorded Mar. 14, 1815 in liber LR No.1, folio 20 & 21 and
examined by..... Harford County., Md. . Apparently then he was an aged
man, with married sons and daughters. His wife was Susan Cole and she
survived him.

I Samuel Rodgers, being sick, and weak in body, but of sound and
disposing mind, memory and understanding, considering the certainty of
death and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and being desirous to
settle my worldly affairs and thereby be the better prepared to leave
this world when it should please God to call me hence, do therefore make
and publish this my last will and testimony in manner and form following-
1st. It is my will and desire that my funeral charges and all my
just debts shall be paid.
2ndly. I do will and bequeath to my beloved wife Susan Rodgers all
my personal Estate for her comfort and convenience , to be disposed of as
she may think proper- I also will to my beloved wife a home and a support
in my present dwelling.
3rdly. I do will and d____ to my son Samuel Rodgers the plantation
whereon I now dwell, to have and said Samuel his heir and a____- he
giving his mother a home in my present dwelling and a comfortable support
as above directed during her natural life.-Also in consideration of the
bequest I have made to my son Samuel, it is my will and desire the he
should pay all my just debts and the following legacies bequeath(sp) to
my sons Jeremiah and Philip Rodgers each fifty dollars and to each of my
three daughters, Sarah Crawford, Susan Young and Ann Maria Cromwell one
hundred dollars to be equally divided between them-And be it further
understood that the aforesaid Legacies are not to be demanded of my son
Samuel during the lifetime of my wife Susan Rodgers-
And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my son Samuel Rodgers
my sole executor of this my last will and testament, revoking and
annulling all former wills by me heretofore made. Ratifying and
confirming this and none other to be my last will and testament-
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal
this 11th day of January in the year of our Lord, Eighteen Hundred and
Fifteen-
