Will of Scarborough Pentecost
In the Name of God Amen I Scarborough Penticost of the County of Brunswick
do make and ordain this my last Will & Testament in manner and form
following that is to say in the first place it is my Will and desire that
my ____ death and funeral expences be paid and then I lend to my Beloved
Wife Rachel Penticost for her natural life the land I live on together
with all the residue of my Estate be it of whatsoever kind it may except
what I shall hereafter give away -

Item - I give and bequeath to my Son William at his Mothers death the above
mentioned Tract of Land, Hamplon {sic}, Winny {sic}, Billy and Lewis, to
him and his Heirs & Assigns forever on condition that he takes Kear
of and supports his Aunt Nancy Rees for her life.

Item - I give and bequeath to my Daughter Delphay two Negroes namely Nancy
and Easter & one feather Bed & a Horse & Saddle to be given
to her when she comes of age or Marries to her Heirs & Assigns for
ever.

Item - It is my Will and desire that if my Son Thomas should Behave himself
well in the opinion of my said Wife & Exector herafter mentioned that
they give him my Negroe boy named Gabril when he comes of age & not
otherwise.

Item - I give and Bequeath to my son Charles in the same Manner the Negro
Boy named Moses which said boy I wish should be bound out to some good
Trade with my said Son Charles.

Item - I give and Bequeath to my grandson Scarborough Saunders my Negro
Boy named Jesse to him & his heirs & assigns for ever.

Item - I give and Bequeath the Residue and Remainder of my Estate not given
away at my wife Death to be Equally divided between only six of my Children
Namely Francis, John, Scarborough, Freeman, Thomas, & Charles, that
is to say the Negro Boy Gabril to be considered part of Thomas' Lot also
Fifty pounds willed to him by his grandfather be considered as a part so
as for his lot to be only equal to the other Children including {sic} them
two legacies also the Negro Boy Moses be considered as a part of Charles
Lot soas for his to be only equal to the others including the Value {sic}
of said boy {sic}

and lastly I constitute and appoint my said Wife Rachel Penticost my Executrix
& my Friend William Edward Brodnax my Executor to this my last Will
& Testament Revoking all others heretofore made In Witness whereof
I have herewith set my Hand & Seal this 25th March 1795.
